Streamlining Historic Building Measurements: Achieving Precision with Digital Technology

We recently undertook an exciting project:

measuring a historic building to deliver detailed plans for both clients and the council.

The objective was to create an accurate yet straightforward plan to guide the building’s future development.

The historic building presented several challenges. It was filled with existing shelving and tooling, and featured a 4-6 meter high exposed trussed roof, complicating the measurement process.

Our goal was to capture crucial elements—such as trusses, heights, windows, and doorways—with precision, while keeping the plan simple and manageable for the architect.

By conducting on-site measurements and recording key features in CAD, we created a comprehensive digital map that was both detailed and easy to process. We also left survey points, enabling us to return and locate exact CAD points if necessary.

This approach saved significant time on-site and provided the architect with precise, accurate drawings that streamlined their planning process.

For those in the construction and manufacturing sectors, adopting such innovative solutions can lead to more efficient workflows and superior outcomes. At Digital Measuring Solutions, we’re dedicated to bringing this level of precision and ease to every project we undertake.

The accuracy and detail were brilliant, saving me a significant amount of time on-site. The data was easy to integrate into my CAD software and required very little processing time. It was an outstanding service that truly streamlined my workflow and saved me so much time
