Transforming Efficiency: How Digital Templating Saved 211 Hours on a Steel Cladding Project
Overview
Digital Measuring Solutions teamed up with Custom Bilt to measure a 30-meter high facade with bespoke metal paneling and steel capping along a split-level staircase.
Challenges
The facade had non-linear channels that required precise measurements for fitting.
The steel capping needed accurate joins and miters and had a sloping plane.
Measuring Process
We used the FlexiJet to capture the entire facade and stair wall in 2D and 3D, focusing on:
Lengths of channels
Widths and heights for tapering
Angles for flange connections
This data was imported into Autodesk Inventor for precise CAD design.
Outcome
The results were impressive! Digital tempalting was able to save over 211 hours largely on site installation. The joins were perfect and no welding or sanding was required. Not only this but it minimized disruption on the site during the measuring process and allowed the job to move seamlessly to completion.
The CAD detailer and installers were wrapped as they headed home early that Friday afternoon with a top class installation completed.
